CHRISTMAS

As Christmas approaches, Oakham House Choir presents an evening of inspiring seasonal music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and contemplative works by French composers. But Christmas would not be complete without some light-hearted entertainment. That will be provided by the amusing Toy Symphony, composed by Edmund Angerer

In keeping with the European tradition of performing Christmas music till mid-January, the Toronto Sinfonietta, together with the Agnus Dei Choir, presents a concert featuring Polish singers. The venue is the beautiful Our Lady of Sorrows church. Magnificat, the masterpiece of Polish baroque music composed by a monk at the Black Madonna monastery in Czestochowa, will be followed by traditional Polish carols arranged for choir, soloists and orchestra.

Ontario is blessed with young musicians of outstanding talent. We are proud to present some of them, the winners of our Concerto Competition, playing solo concertos for piano, violin, cello and woodwinds with orchestra.

Young musicians will play excerpts from concertos by W.A. Mozart, H. Wieniawski, J. Haydn, S. Rachmaninoff, P. Tchaikovsky and E. Grieg

OPERA IN DISGUISE

At the age 22, after studying composition for only a year, Giacomo Puccini composed his Messa di Gloria. Though this rarely performed work is a religious piece, its operatic style has made it a favourite with opera lovers.

Celebrating the 222nd anniversary of the Polish Constitution of May 3, 1791 and Witold Lutosławski Year, the Consulate Geberal of the Republic of Poland cordially invites you to attend a concert of Polish Romantic and New Music.
