The final round of auditions of the First Toronto Sinfonietta Concerto Competition 2006 was held on Tuesday, October 3, 2006, at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Toronto. The Adjudicating Committee of the First Toronto Sinfonietta Concerto Competition is pleased to announce the winners:
Flute category, under the age of 16: You, Lu Yun (Alice)
Violin category, under the age of 16: Amir Safavi
Violin category, 16 – 19: Jason Bian
Piano category, under the age of 16: Nathan Kong
All the winners are invited to perform with Toronto Sinfonietta at the Gala Concert in Toronto, in November. Depending on sponsorship revenue the concert will take place either at Isabel Bader Theatre, on November 11, or at the Trinity Presbyterian Church – York Mills, on November 25.
The committee recognizes high artistic level of all finalists, and would like to give more young musicians an opportunity to perform with the Toronto Sinfonietta. Therefore, the following finalists are also invited to participate in the Gala Concert:
